Pakistan and Sri Lanka are ready to begin a new era with the beginning of their two-match series in the UAE on Thursday.
The Green Caps will be led by new captain Sarfraz Ahmed, who is taking charge after Misbahul Haq retired following the series win in West Indies.
The team will be also without the legendary Younus Khan, who bid farewell to the game in the same series as well.
The home side will be depending heavily on the experience of Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq and Sarfraz, while young Babar Azam can also help take the team forward with the bat. The bowling department will be headed by pacer Mohammad Amir, who will be accompanied by leg-spinner Yasir Shah and fast-bowlers Hasan Ali and Mohammad Abbas.
For Sri Lanka, the series is another opportunity to regain some form after the humiliating results back home, but their task is not an easy one.
Experienced all-rounder Angelo Mathews will miss the first Test, which means the visitors’ batting looks weak and the responsibility will shared by captain Dinesh Chandimal, Kusal Mendis and Lahiru Thirimanne.
In the bowling department, the Islanders will be heavily depending on veteran left-arm spinner Rangana Herath.
