AC To Resume Hearing of Avanfield Reference Today


Islamabad (April 02, 2018): An accountability court will resume the hearing of Avenfield reference against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family today.

Judge Muhammad Bashir will resume the hearing. Earlier on March 30, The proceedings of the Avanfield Reference Against Sharif family  witnessed heated argument between the NAB prosecutor and the Sharif counsel Khwaja Haris. The proceedings were later adjourned for April 02.The cross examination of Wajid Zia from Sharif counsel continued on Friday during the proceedings headed by Judge Muhammad Bashir.

In response to Haris’ query, Zia said the JIT, unanimously, had decided to contact the UK-based law firm of Jeremy Freeman, through Quist Solicitors, to verify the trust deed of Nielsen and Nescoll companies.

Zia said Freeman testified that the signatures on the trust deed are of Hussain Nawaz.

Later, Zia was questioned over the JIT’s investigation of the sale of Gulf Steel Mills, owned by the Sharif family.

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday reached the accountability court for the hearing into NAB references against him and his family in Avanfield properties case. The former prime minister was also accompanied by his daughter Maryam Nawaz and other PML-N leaders.

Earlier before coming to the court while talking to media, the lifetime Quaid of the PML-N, Nawaz Sharif said that the trial of General retd Pervez Musharraf would reach its logical end and now everyone would have to be accountable.

Responding a to a query regarding a judge rescuing himself from the treason bench before appearing at the accountability court, the former premier said that whether Musharraf appears before court or remains absconder but one day he had to be brought for the trial of his sins.

“Time has changed now and every will be made accountable now,” he said.

Responding to NAB references, he asked the need of the interim references when NAB could not find any corrupt practice. “They were unable to find anything in first three months and now the star witness Wajid Zia’s statement has also washed away all the allegations against us,” he said.He asked as to where is corruption in their case and the entire case is revolving around their family business.

He further said that the chief justice should not have used words of ‘Faryadi’ for the prime minister nor he should have used the words that the prime minister came to me.

“Now if he has used these words then he should stand on his words,” he said.
