ADB Approves $800m Loan for Regional Connectivity


Islamabad (September 26, 2017):  Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved 800 million dollar multi-tranche financing facility to help enhance regional connectivity and trade in the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation corridors in Pakistan.

The investment program will expand Pakistan’s regional connectivity links while helping to improve road traffic efficiency.Road networks in Sindh, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be rehabilitated and upgraded with the Bank’s first tranche of about 180 million dollar this year.According to Bank’s Director Transport and Communication Division Dong-Soo Pyo, Pakistan’s unique geographic location provides a unique potential and opportunity for the country to become a regional transport and trade hub.
