Ashiana housing scandal: Court grants 7-day physical remand of suspect


LAHORE: An accountability court on Monday granted a seven-day physical remand of suspect Shahid Shafiq to NAB in the Ashiana Housing scandal case. 

According to details, proceedings in the Ashiana Housing scandal case were conducted at the accountability court on Monday in which the suspect was produced before the court.

Shahid Shafiq is accused of awarding contracts illegally in the Ashaiana Housing scandal case. The suspect claimed that he had been tortured while he was in NAB’s custody.

In response, NAB authorities presented the medical report of the suspect for the court to examine in which Shahid Shafiq was declared fit.

Shahid Shafiq will be presented before the accountability court on March 5.

On the other hand, Ahad Cheema’s wife visited her husband at NAB office to inquire after him. It was observed that the suspect was in high spirits.

Ahad Cheema will also be produced before the court on March 5.

Meanwhile, the¬†bureaucracy’s strike in favour of Ahad Cheema fizzled out as the Civil Secretariat was functioning as per routine.
