Bilawal lambasts nexus between PTI, MQM for ‘weakening’ Parliament

KARACHI, September 27: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has lambasted the nexus between PTI and MQM to dislodge Leader of the Opposition Syed Khursheed Shah and termed their attempts as a blow to the Parliament and its strength.

In a statement issued here, the PPP Chairman said that Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah played a pivotal and key role to strengthen the Parliament and protect its prestige during all the crisis, which posed threats to the Parliament and all the stake-holders of the democracy.

He pointed out that it was the strategy and efforts of Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah that both PTI and MQM are still part of the Parliament and enjoying the perks and privileges despite hitting axes at the very roots of the Parliamentary system.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari further said those trying to engineer artificial remote-controlled attempts to cobble up majority among the Opposition are in fact working against the very Parliamentary system.

PPP Chairman said that powers of the Parliament to appoint Chief Election Commissioner, Chairman NAB and caretaker government cannot be altered at any individual or groups wishes or whims.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that entire nation was surprised over this sudden hobnobbing between PTI and MQM as both were at each others throats not far ago.

PPP Chairman said that Syed Khursheed Shah has worked hard to assert the powers of the Parliament and protected its sovereignty through his political acumen and sagacity. “Democracy and the true democrats on Opposition side fully stand behind Syed Khursheed Shah in the National Assembly through every thick and thin and his performance as Leader of the Opposition remains magnanimous and part of the pride of PPP struggle for democracy,” he added.
