ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet was automatically dissolved after the Supreme Court of Pakistan disqualified Nawaz Sharif as Prime Minister on Friday, Samaa reported.
The Supreme Court on Friday disqualified Nawaz Sharif as Member of Parliament.
The federal cabinet was also dissolved following the disqualification of Mr. Sharif as it cannot function without a prime minister.
Mr. Sharif has also lost the chairmanship of his own party under Political Parties Act 2002 which states that a disqualified individual cannot hold a party office.
Speaker of National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Mohammad Sadiq will release the schedule of the by-election.
The decision in the Panamagate Case was announced by the Supreme Court this morning after a delay of over half an hour.
The decision was announced by the five-member larger bench of the apex court. Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, Justice Gulzar Ahmad, Justice Ijaz Afzal, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Ijaz-ul-Ahsan are part of the bench.
