LAHORE: Accountability Court (AC) of Lahore on Friday issued a show-cause notice to DIG operations and Superintendent of jail over presenting the accused of the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case in the court today.
Jail authorities didn’t brought the accused to the court owing to lawyers’ strike and law and order situation and furnished a report.
Accountability Judge Chaudhry Ameer Muhammad Khan heard the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case, money laundering, assets beyond means.
The judge expressing anger over the jail authorities over not producing an accused Abbass Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz in the court said that a week passed but they didn’t produce the accused in the jail while commenting that the government so much incompetent that it can’t produce accused in the court and asked why the accused were not produced before the court.
On the court query, the NAB prosecutor told the court that law and orders situation is not well, on which the judge remarked that “If you can’t produce the accused then you should be in home wearing bangels adding that a war is not going on in the country that the accused could not be produced before the court.”
Later the court extended the judicial remand of Yousuf Abbas until Jan 3 and directed the jail authorities to produce him before the court on the next hearing.
It is noteworthy that ex-premier Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz are out on bail in the case.
