Addressing the participants, which included soldiers and officers of various ranks as well as retired generals, Gen Bajwa praised the role of Baloch Regiment. He said the army will continue to fight terrorism in the country.

“I am proud of the significant role of the Baloch Regiment in defending the country,” said the army chief.

He praised the sacrifices of the martyrs and assured their families that the army will never forget those who gave their blood to defend and strengthen the nation.

“The army chief emphasised that Pakistan Army will continue its efforts to eliminate the menace of terrorism and to ensure that the borders remain secure. “This demands the highest standards of faith, professionalism, and perseverance in the service of the Nation,” a statement by the army quoted him saying.

Gen Bajwa was also made the honourary Colonel-in-Chief of the Baloch Regiment.

He also laid a floral wreath at the martyrs’ monument of the regiment.

Former army chiefs Generals Mirza Aslam Beg and Ashfaq Pervez Kayani were also in attendance, as were former chairmen of the joint chiefs of staff committee, Generals Tariq Majid and Rashad Mehmood.
