Day 2: Warner Stars, Australia Lead by 72 Runs

BRISBANE: Australia finished the second day on 312 for the loss of just one wicket, 72 run ahead of PakistanĀ“s first innings total of 240.

The hosts kicked off their day with David Warner and Joe Burns on the crease. Both the openers smashed Pakistani bowling line-up and kept their grip over all four sessions.

There was a 222 runs opening partnership between the duo, as Joe Burns was bowled by Yasir Shah on 97 runs.

Warner then scored his first Test century since a year-long ban for ball-tampering, but only after a huge let-off when he was caught behind off a Naseem no-ball.

The mercurial opener was on 56 at the time, and he then survived a near run-out on 93 before ending a century drought stretching back nearly two years.

Australia will resume their batting tomorrow on the third day with David Warner on 151 and Marnus Labuschagne on 55 runs.

Earlier on first day, Pakistan was bowled out on 240 with Asad Shafiq scoring 76 runs (highest in the innings).
