ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday reserved its verdict regarding maintainability of petitions that seek Sharif family including former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to be put on exit control list (ECL) after Panama case proved that it is a corruption case.
The single-judge bench of Justice Amir Farooq heard the petition today. The bench queried the petitioners about the law under which the government may be ordered to put members of Sharif family on ECL.
The lawyer of the petitioners cited ECL Rules 2010, saying the Panama case has vindicated beyond doubt that it is a corruption case.
Replying to a question by the bench, the counsel said the concerned forum was approached but to no avail, adding the matter pertains to public interest and one of the accused has already gone abroad.
The petitioner said one of the accused is strolling on the London streets, adding Sharif family has a track record of fleeing from the country.
Later on, the court reserved its decision regarding the admissibility of the petition for hearing. –SAMAA
