ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq said on Monday that he had dismissed an objection that was filed against PML-N’s candidate for the post of interim prime minister, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
Ayaz Sadiq said that nomination papers of all six candidates for the post of prime minister had been approved.
“An objection had been raised against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi which was rejected,” he said.
Sadiq said that nomination papers of all candidates were scrutinized as per Roll 33.
MQM-Pakistan on Monday stated that its parliamentarians would vote for Shahid Khaqan Abbasi when the parliament elects a new leader of the house.
Former Prime Minister Sharif was disqualified from the post on July 28 by the apex court after the court found him guilty of not disclosing AED 10,000 dirhams receivable in his nomination papers.
