Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri flies back to Pakistan

LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri flew back to Pakistan on Tuesday morning to spearhead a campaign against the incumbent government and demand justice for martyrs of Model Town tragedy.

The PAT workers in huge number received him at Lahore airport this morning

According to Samaa, the PAT chief reached Pakistan from Oslo on board a foreign airline. The plane landed at Lahore airport at 8:30am.

The party leaders including Dr. Hussain Muhayuddin and Khurram Nawaz Gandapur were present at the airport to welcome him.

From the airport, he is expected to travel to Nasir Bagh ground to address party workers and supporters upon his return to the country.

According to supporters of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri, his arrival in the country will put added pressure on the perpetrators of the Model Town massacre and the movement to bring them to accountability will gain momentum.

Qadri on Monday warned Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif that he would be held accountable for the murder of 14 innocent people killed in the Model Town Massacre in June 2014.

The PAT has invited opposition parties to participate in the rally at Nasir Bagh.

Secretary General PAT Khurram Nawaz Gandapur contacted Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid who assured his participation in today’s rally.

Several parties including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and PML-Q have also been invited.

He will be taken to the shrine of Data sahib straight from Allama Iqbal International Airport where he will offer optional prayers on the disqualification of the Prime Minister, lay the floral wreath at the grave of the Sufi saint and distribute food among the deserving people.

Briefing the media men after the meeting of the Core Committee, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that thousands of people will join Dr Qadri at the shrine of Data sahib on August 8.

He said that the perpetrators of Model Town massacre would not be able to remain at large for a long time now as their names are numbered. He said that after his utter failure to present a money trail in the Supreme Court in 273 days, the ousted Prime Minister has been trying to prove his innocence on the roads. –SAMAA
