Islamabad (February 27, 2018): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is conducting a hearing into petitions regarding the convenership of Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan’s (MQM-P) Bahadurabad and PIB factions.
Talking to media after arriving for ECP hearing, MQM-P Bahadurabad Leader Amir Khan said that they are hopeful that the decision would come in their favour as they had done all things within constitutional limits. “If the decision would not come in our favour then the doors of court are also open for us,” he said.
Responding to a query regarding Kamran Tessori’s arrival at Bahadurabad, Khan said that respecting guests is their tradition and suggestions were given to them for improvement and now the ball is in their court.Talking to media, Kamran Tessori expressed hope that the ECP would decide on merit and they would accept the decision.
The infighting between party members over nominations for the upcoming Senate elections has resulted in the emergence of splinter groups, led by Dr Farooq Sattar and the Rabita Committee respectively.
PIB’s Sattar and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui of the Bahadurabad faction have reached the ECP premises for the hearing. The intra-party election conducted by the Farooq Sattar-led PIB faction will also be brought under discussion.
According to recent developments, the Bahadurabad group had refused the PIB faction’s suggestion to dissolve the Rabita Committee. The former had, in turn, suggested the party’s PIB group to constitute a parliamentary board.
