KARACHI: The Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) was celebrated across Pakistan on Friday with due religious fervour and enthusiasm.
The day, a public holiday, dawned with a 21 gun-salute. All major public and private buildings in the city were decorated and illuminated.
A number of Eid-i-Milad processions were taken out and mahafil-e-Darood O Salam and Seerat conference were organized.
The main Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi procession in Karachi was taken out from the New Memon Masjid, Boultan Market and was destined to conclude later in the day at the Nishter Park.
Strict security arrangements were made and more than 5,000 officers and jawans of the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) were deployed for duty.
Pakistan Television, Radio Pakistan and TV channels aired special programmes highlighting the Seerat-un-Nabi, Newspapers published special articles.
Mehfil-e-Milad (PBUH) held at Jati Umra
Mehfil-e-Milad Mustafa (PBUH) was held at Jati Umra residence of former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here on Friday to pay glowing tribute to the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
Naat Khawans paid tribute to the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
The Milad ceremony was attended by former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and other party leaders.
Dua was also offered for the progress and prosperity of the country. PML-N MNA Hamza Shahbaz and MNA Capt Safdar also attended the ceremony.
