Islamabad: The federal government has withdrawn a filed appeal against the restoration of Mayor of Islamabad Sheikh Ansar Aziz in the IHC.

A divisional bench of the IHC comprising Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzaib and Justice Ghulam Azam Qambrani heard the appeal of the federal government.

During the hearing additional attorney general Tariq Khosa told the court that the appeal against the Islamabad mayor filed against his advice while “the federal government first ordered me to file the appeal and now I have been ordered not to argue on the appeal.”

It is pertinent to mention here that Sheikh Ansar Aziz has been suspended by the interior ministry for a period of 90-days, however, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani of the IHC restored him on his post over his petition against the interior ministry move on May 21.
