First ODI: Pakistan, Sri Lanka to Meet in Change Format Today


Web Desk(October 13, 2017): The first One Day International of five-match series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played at Dubai International Stadium on Friday, today.

Now, Pakistan is facing an ODI challenge after whitewash in two Test series against Sri Lanka. Sarfraz XI has made mistakes in batting and team selection in both matches of which he experienced defeat.

Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed says we will enter in the ground with determined and positive mind  after forgetting the defeat of Test series saying it every day a new day in cricket and will try out best to win the ODI series.

However, champions trophy winner team was reinforced in ODI format.  Fakhar Zaman, Ahmed Shehzad, Imam-ul-Haq, Muhammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Imad Wasim and Junaid Khan will be the part of ODI squad.

Sri Lanka have come from wretched one-day form, having lost 16 of their last 21 games, winning four with one no result. That included a 5-0 whitewash against South Africa and India and first-ever series defeat against minnows Zimbabwe.

In addition, Pakistani players have showed their full essence in fielding, bowling and batting during a practice session.

Pakistan Squad: Ahmed Shehzad, Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Sarfraz Ahmed (capt), Imad Wasim, Shahdab Khan, Hasan Ali, Ruman Raees and Junaid Khan.

Sri Lanka: Upul Tharanga (capt), Dinesh Chandimal, Niroshan Dickwella,Lahiru Thirimanne, Kusal Mendis, Milinda Siriwardana, Chamara Kapugedara, Thisara Perera, Seekuge Prasanna, Nuwan Pradeep, Suranga Lakmal, Dushmantha Chameera, Vishwa Fernando, Akila Dananjaya, Jeffrey Vandersay.

Umpires: Sundaram Ravi (India) and Ahsan Raza (Pakistan) Tv umpire: Richard Kettleborough (England) ICC match referee: Andy Pycroft (Zimbabwe).

The match will kick off tomorrow at 4:00 pm according to PST.

The remaining matches are in Abu Dhabi (October, 16 and 18) and Sharjah (October, 20 and 23). Three Twenty20 matches will follow the ODIs, two in Abu Dhabi (October, 26 and 27) and the last in Lahore (October 29).
