2016 sucked, for some of us personally and for all of us globally. War in Syria, Brexit, death of beloved celebrities, the infamous American election, nothing went right. It could get better this year or it could get worse. In any case, we all need a break from the hustle bustle of our routine lives. And the best way to spend that break would be a getaway in the form of a vacation. I know, I know, you make plans every year to go see the beauty of the mountains or the jubilation of half-moon parties.” But something always comes up, an unexpected work emergency, or a family event you forgot about and you end up not going. But this year you need to make it happen. And here’s how you are going to do it:
- Plan Ahead:
Start your planning today. Not the kind of planning you do every year but something more practical. How you are going to do that? Begin with making room in your schedule. Check your calendar, choose the dates you won’t have any family commitments on, run the dates with your boss and done. Sounds like too much work? That’s okay. You can let apps like Google Keep or the To-Do Calendar Planner do your planning for you.
- Choose A Location:
Talk to your friends who travel a lot and choose the location that suits your pocket. Now since you have decided to leave home for a few days, why not be a little adventurous and choose a location that’s not Murree? You can visit the beautiful snowcapped mountains of Kaghan or the lush green fields of Neelam Valley. And if your budget allows, you can even travel to Thailand or Sri Lanka and let the rich history of these places help you reconnect with your inner self.
- Start Saving:
Once you have chosen the place you will be visiting, calculate the amount of money you would need. You don’t have any idea how to do that? Well, talk to your friends or contact a travel guide. Or you could simply use the internet. Compare fare prices on the websites of airlines and go to Airbnb to find affordable accommodation in the place you plan on visiting. If you are travelling to another country, you should be aware of the prices of food items there. Once you have gathered all the data, you can start saving accordingly.
- Give In To Nature:
Pictures are a great way of keeping a memory intact forever but don’t spend more time taking pictures and less time admiring your surroundings. When you are sitting on top of a mountain, enjoy the view, breathe the fresh air. Soak your feet in a spring. You would be amazed at the way nature can heal your soul and cleanse your mind.
- Bonus Point: For The Very Busy or The Broke:
Can’t take out time to explore the beautiful Hunza Valley because of the never ending work? Are you postponing the Swat trip because you are tight on budget? Keep reading, because this point is for you. Take two days off from work and go trek in Margalla Hills. Choose the trail you would want to trek on and enjoy a nice, quiet moment with nature.
I hope all of us will get to travel this year and no matter which location we choose, may the experience bring us the calm that we lose somewhere in the daily grind of our lives.
