The former editor of the Indian investigative magazine, Tehelka, Tarun Tejpal on Thursday was charged by a Goa court in a rape case.
According to TimesNow, court handed a copy of charges to Tejpal, while refusing to postpone the hearing. The Mapusa district court had on September 7 refused to drop charges against the ex-editor, who is accused of sexually assaulting a colleague at an event in Goa in 2013.
Earlier this week, the Bombay High Court had refused to stay the framing of charges against Tejpal, and also issued a notice to the Goa government seeking its response to the senior journalist’s plea.
Tejpal had moved the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court against the district court’s order. The hearing has been adjourned till November 1.
