WEB DESK: The COVID-19 outbreak was first reported in the city of Wuhan, central China’s Hubei Province, in December 2019. Confirmed cases now exceed 780,000 globally, with the death toll hitting over 37,000, according to Johns Hopkins University. 

Chinese mainland’s total number of cases has reached 81,518, including 771 cases that originated abroad. The death toll in the country now stands at 3,314.

Wuhan will lift outbound travel restrictions starting April 8 after over two months of lockdown. China temporarily suspended entry of foreigners with valid visas and residence permits from March 28.

The U.S. cases of COVID-19 crossed 160,000, with 3,000 deaths. President Donald Trump has extended social distancing guidelines to April 30.

Italy’s health minister said coronavirus lockdown would be extended “at least” until April 12 as the country’s total cases top 100,000.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will go into quarantine as one of his advisers was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus.
