In his strong reaction to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) threats of launching protests against Shehbaz Sharif’s arrest, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Monday said those who have plundered the wealth of the nation would be held accountable despite all protests.

Addressing the media Fawad Chaudhry hammered PML-N leadership and said: “state institutions should not be ridiculed and must be given respect.”

The federal minister said the government had no role in the arrest of PML-N president Shehbaz.

“All institutions are working within their constitutional limits,” he added. The information minister said that the hue and cry of the opposition could not put an end to the accountability process, adding that “they [opposition] are finding excuses to stage walkouts.”

He alleged that previous rulers have put Pakistan under the huge burden of loans and destroyed almost all institutions.

He turned down allegation of government link with Shehbaz Arrest and said that the cases on Shehbaz Sharif was registered during the Nawaz Sharif tenure.

He questioned, “billion of rupees being appeared in Falooda owner accounts, what is going on? It is money laundering and being exposed before the people.”The statement comes in the wake of PML-N leadership laying out the gauntlet to the government by announcing to launch a countrywide protest against the arrest of the party president at the hands of National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
