How important is JHMS for Shah Rukh, Anushka, Imtiaz

Web Desk (August 3, 2017): Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Imtiaz Ali’s Jab Harry Met Sejal is ready to hit the screens this Friday (August 4).

While many of us must be eager to watch the movie, this film might just be very crucial for all three stars associated with it. Shah Rukh, Anushka and Imtiaz haven’t had a great run at the box office over the past few years. SRK has seen his films like FanDilwale and Raees struggle at the box office.

All his recent three films failed to make considerable profits and weren’t deemed as hits at the box office. In the meantime, except Sultan, Anushka hasn’t had any huge hits, too, over the past few years.

All her films, including Bombay Velvet, Dil Dhadakane DoAe Dil Hai Mushkil and Phillauri were average performers at the ticket windows. Imtiaz Ali’s last two releases – Highway and Tamasha weren’t commercially successful too. So are they banking on Jab Harry Met Sejal to be a superhit for getting their careers back on track?

Well, we called trade expert, Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor), to ask him about this particular aspect and he made it clear that every film is important for every actor or director, but their careers or lives are not dependent on the success or failure of one film. As he reasoned, “I really feel that every film is very important for every actor featured in the film and the director who has made it.

However, it is lesser so for stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma, who are established. This is because the failure of one or two films or success of one or two films does not change their stardom. They are superstars and they will remain superstars. So, as I said, while every film is important for every actor, it is not that their life or career depends on it beyond a point.”
