Imran Khan has never been shareholder, director of Niazi Services: Lawyer

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has adjourned hearing of disqualification case against PTI Chief Imran Khan till Oct. 3.

Imran Khan’s Council Naeem Bukhari continued his arguments on Thursday as a three-judge SC bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar resumed hearing PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi’s plea seeking disqualification of Imran Khan.

The PTI lawyer submitted an email of Imran Khan’s former wife Jemima Khan as an evidence of Imran Khan’s claim that his wife had sent the money for the purchase of Bani Gala house.

He said Imran Khan had never been a shareholder or director of the Niazi Services Limited (NSL).

On Sept 25, Imran Khan moved a fresh rejoinder insisting that his repayment of a loan to Jemima Khan was a matter that had been settled between husband and wife, leaving nothing to declare to any authority, including the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is claiming that Jemima Khan was the ‘benamidaar’ (front person) for Imran Khan in the acquisition of 300 kanals in Bani Gala.

Imran Khan’s lawyer has claimed that use of the term “benami” by Jemima in the power of attorney document was an error.

Only three transactions from Jemima have been confirmed while there is no evidence of $ 100,000 transaction… If the Bani Gala land is considered benami, then even it’s not illegal. The benami land is used to evade the tax, the CJP said.

Naeem Bukhari later concluded his arguments.

Talking to media, meanwhile, PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi said Imran Khan has completely failed to produce money trail of Bani Gala and London Flats.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry said that Imran Khan will also be disqualified on the basis of his stance in the case. – Samaa
