In a major gaffe, Indian home ministry used a picture of the Spain-Morocco boundary to depict the India-Pakistan border in its recently published annual report.

The picture was captioned, “Floodlighting along the border” and was published in the annual report for the year 2016-2017. ANI News took the massive mistake and publicised it on Twitter:

Initially, the union home secretary said it would apologise if it was truly a mistake on their behalf, and on Wednesday, it was confirmed that the picture was a mix-up. The picture is of the border between Plazas de soberanía, Ceuta, Melilla, and Alborán Island of Morocco.

There were a lot of questions on Twitter on whether Spain and Morocco share a border since they’re separated by waters. However, Morocco and Ceuta share a physical border known as the Cueta Border Fence.

Perhaps the confusion rose because the border is lit beautifully in similar ways to the India- Pakistan border.
