Indian teen raped by 6 minors, flung on railway tracks

A 14-year-old girl from Bihar, India was gang-raped by six minors, thrown off a train and left unattended for almost 14 hours at a hospital on Friday night.

The girl had lost a lot of blood, gained five pelvic fractures and was discovered unconscious on the railway tracks near the Kiul railway station on Saturday. The survivor, along with two of the suspects, are residents of the village of Lakhochak in the Lakhisarai district in India, the place where the crime took place Friday night.

The survivor was left unattended for a period of 14 hours at the Patna Medical College and Hospital, a premier government hospital, after being gang-raped by minors, of which one of them was a junior from the victim’s school.

She told Times of India that she was attacked when she had stepped out of her house to relieve herself. “Someone grabbed me from behind, gagged and blindfolded me and dragged me to a nearby field. There were six or seven people; I recognised two of them as our neighbours,” the victim said.

After the attack she claimed she lost consciousness and found herself on a train when she regained it. “When I regained consciousness, I found myself in a train. The two youths I recognised pushed me out of the train and I fainted again,” she added.

The victim’s brother said that the family realised that she was missing at around 3am on Saturday. After searching for her frantically, they found her 12 hours later at the Kiul Railway station platform, where people had brought her from the tracks.

According to her brother, they had initially taken her to a local hospital where she received 24 stitches to stop the heavy bleeding.

However, she was referred to the Patna Medical College and Hospital when her condition deteriorated on Saturday afternoon as she was allegedly left unattended.

The guards had demanded money from the victim’s brother for a bed, and hospital administration had only taken action when the news was highlighted by the media.

According to police, one of the suspects have been detained while the search for others is underway.
