Japan beats Pakistan 3-1 in International Festival of Hockey

MELBOURNE: After being humbled 9 – 1 by Australia, Pakistan lost to Japan 3-1 in the ongoing Four-Nation International Festival of Hockey in Melbourne on Thursday.

Japan’s Kenta Tanaka scored the first goal of the match in the 8th minute and he doubled his side’s lead in the 47th minute of the match.

The third goal by Japan was scored in the 53rd minute by Genki Mitani.

Pakistan’s Muhammad Atiq managed to pull one goal back in the 58th minute.

The green shirts are at the bottom of the table after losing both of its matches in the tournament so far.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan was thrashed 9-1 by Australia in their opening match. Blake Govers scored three goals, Aaroon Kleinschmidt netted the ball twice while Jeremy Hayward, Jake Whetton, Kiran Arunasalam and Tom Wickham scored one times each as well.

Abubakr Mahmood scored the only goal for Pakistan.
