Japan’s PM Shinzo Dissolves Lower House, Calls Snap Election


Tokyo(September 28, 2017): Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has dissolved the lower house of parliament and called a snap election for next month as expected.

Speaker of the House, Tadamori Oshima, read the statement of dissolution, paving the way for a snap election to be held on 22nd of next month.

The dissolution of the more powerful of Japan’s two-chamber parliament comes more than a year before required by law

Mr. Abe is seeking a fresh mandate amid a rebound in his approval ratings and the ongoing North Korea nuclear crisis.
