ISLAMABAD: A joint session of the parliament will be held on Thursday (today) at five pm at the parliament house in Islamabad.

President Arif Alvi will address the joint sitting, marking the advent of new parliamentary year.

Every new parliamentary year of the National Assembly starts with the address of the President of Pakistan to lawmakers of both the House of the Parliament.

According to Article 56 (3) of the Constitution, “At the commencement of the first session after each general election to the National Assembly and at the commencement of the first session of each year the President shall address both Houses assembled together and inform the Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) of the causes of its summons.”
