Foreign security experts have shown their satisfaction over the security arrangements in Karachi for the final of PSL 3.
A team of international security experts for Global Sports reviewed the arrangements and held a press conference to share their views.
The security team, comprising of Reg Dickason and Deone, evaluated the complete arrangements for the final of Pakistan Super League 3.
The experts told that these arrangements meet with the international standards that are required foreign teams to tour a coutnry. Dickason said:
We were provided with a comprehensive drill and a professional presentation with the help of all security agencies, combined with the efforts of PCB chairman Najam Sethi, which is encouraging and it will be reflecting in the report that I’ll be submitting to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The security team informed that they are satisfied with the arrangements and they will submit a report within seven days.
The Mock Exercise
A full dress rehearsal was held by the security personnel in which all arrangements made were demonstrated to the international security experts. The procedure was monitored through a helicopter as well.
The international security team was taken from the airport to the players’ hotel and then to the stadium.
Showing the satisfaction over the arrangements, Dickason told that;
Whatever we have witnessed today, it’s as good as I have seen in all my years of work but I can’t say a final word (on hosting the final) now and will submit my report within the next seven days.
Hundreds of police and rangers officials took part in the exercise. All roads leading from Dalmia, Civic Centre, New Town and Karsaz to National Stadium were closed for public. Entry to the main building of National Stadium also remained closed.
A fully functional mobile hospital was also established to demonstrate emergency response.
The security team’s report will play a vital role in getting clearance from ICC and other boards for the PSL matches to be played in Pakistan. Successful tours from World XI and the Sri Lankan team to Pakistan will also play a decisive role in paving way for PSL 3 Finals in Pakistan.
PSL 3 will commence from February 18. Two play-offs planned to be played in Pakistan will take place on March 21 and 22. The final will be played in Karachi on 25th March.
The last time Karachi held an international match was back in 2009 where Pakistan and Sri Lanka faced off in a Test match.
