Karachi (August 31, 2017): Heavy rains that lashed the city early this morning have inundated many areas with low-lying areas being hit the hardest with flashfloods houses and business.
The rain that continued throughout last night with varied intensity from area to area turned ferocious around 6 a.m. flooding the boulevards, roads, streets, thoroughfares, and bylanes bringing down an already thin traffic to a standstill.

The private schools association had already announced to keep schools closed today.
The heaviest downpour was registered in Malir, Defense, Clifton, Baldi town, Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, and all other areas with varied intensity.
The heavy downpour has not buried most areas of the city under water but the usual negligence, indifference, and laziness of those responsible for sanitation, water, sewerage, and other civic amenities are putting public health at serious risks with heaps of sewerage, refuse, thrash, and garbage everywhere.
There is a flood-like situation in Karachi with feet of water standing here and there particularly in and around KDA Chowrangi, Nagan Chowrangi, Karimabad, Tahir Villa, Five Star Chowrangi, Gulshan Chowrangi, Ayesha Manzil.
The heavy downpour which continued for over hour-and-half this morning has turned avarious areas of Karachi into streams, ponds, lakes, and rivers.
As the schools remain close the attendance at offices also remains thin.
Six rain-related deaths have been reported since yesterday. Four of these deaths were caused by electrocution which include Javed in Lyari Bihar Colony, Muhammad Naseer in Orangi Town, Azeemul Haq who was electrocuted in Bakri Peeri in Baldi Town. A man fell to his death from a building in Sector 4 of Gulshan-e-Maymar while a motorcyclist slipped and died in Baldia Town.
