Karachi: Police Issues security plan for Muharram Processions

Karachi (September 28, 2017): The police has released the security plan for the central procession and congregations will be held on 8, 9 and 1 Muharram-ul-Haram.

According to security plan the fool proof security will be provided to all Muharram procession and Majalis while heavy contingency of police deployed on the routes on which procession will pass through.

Central Procession at Nishter Park: Police has divided the routes  in nine sectors and 23 sub-sector for Nishter Park procession. All the small procession, coming from across the city, will enter in main procession through only 12 entry places as other all routes leading to Nishter Park will be closed.

The police personnel will be deployed on 287 places located on the procession route. The shooters will be deployed on 124 buildings around the routes of the main procession.

Traffic Plan: The Traffic police has released the traffic plan for 8, 9, and 10 Muharramul Haram and set the alternative routes during the processions.

According to plan, the traffic coming from Nazimabad will be diverted to Soldier Bazar, while traffic coming from Liaqatabad will be diverted from Teen Hatti to Marton Road.

The traffic coming from National Highway will allow to flow till Rashid Minhas Road and traffic from Shahrah-e-Quadain will stop at Society office.

The traffic Passes through Saddar will not allow to come at Praidi street during the procession. The traffic coming form MA Jinnah Road and Court Road will not be allowed to come at Fresco Chowk.

CCTV Cameras: The CCTV cameras across the city have been activated and are being monitored round the clock amidst the security concerns during Muharram.

The CCTV cameras will help monitor Nishtar Park, which remains the primary venues of Muharram gatherings and speeches, as well as various routes through which Muharram processions pass through will be monitored.

Shia ulemas has expressed satisfaction at the activation of the CCTV cameras and their 24-hour monitoring.

High Alert in Jinnah Hospital: High alert has been declared in Jinnah hospital for 9 and 10 Muharram. Talking over the high alert, Executive Director Jinnah Hospital Semi Jamali said that high alert has been declared for 9th and 10th Muharram as the leaves of all staff including doctors have been cancelled.
