Karachi(April 11, 2018): Prolonged load-shedding continues in different parts of the city, due to which people going to office, school and examination centres are facing immense difficulties.
Unannounced load-shedding continues not just during the day, but also at night in the Lyari, Saddar, Bizerta Lines, Kala Pul, Malir, Shah Faisal, Landhi and other areas. Residents of Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Gulshan-e-Iqbal are also worried about the recurrent power outages.

Many Karachi areas do not have electricity for up to 12 hours a day. Students suffer the most since they cannot study in the dark. In different parts of the city, there is up to seven hours of announced load-shedding in addition to several hours of unannounced load-shedding.Due to prolonged load-shedding in the city, small and medium-sized industries are also being adversely affected.
Whereas, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has taken serious notice of unannounced load shedding in Karachi during the prevailing harsh weather and sought detailed report from K-Electric.

According to a statement issued by NEPRA here, taking notice of over 10-hour additional unannounced power outage, the regulatory body has constituted a high-level committee to probe the matter. The NEPRA has directed K-Electric to submit a detailed report on the issue.
The clarifications rendered by K-Electric were unsatisfactory, therefore, NEPRA has constituted the high-level committee to visit K-Electric and investigate the issue. The NEPRA team is scheduled to visit Karachi from April 11 to 13, 2018.
