As AMD’s Ryzen series gains more traction, business applications of the processors are also becoming common. The latest in line are Lenovo’s new ThinkPad E485 and E585, both of which come with a variety of APU options to boot.

Design

ThinkPad E485, the lower-end of the two, comes with a 14″ IPS panel on the front, with a 768p display by default (there’s a 1080p option, thankfully). The ThinkPad E585 has similar options but has a 15.6″ panel for a change.

Design-wise, there isn’t much difference between the two, except that the 15-inch model comes with a numpad. In true ThinkPad fashion, there is a TrackPoint in the middle, along with a trackpad below, all of them featuring red accents.

Hardware

Under the hood, you get the three APU options of 2.5GHz Ryzen 3 2200U with Vega 3, 2GHz Ryzen 5 2500U with Vega 5, and 2.2GHz Ryzen 7 2700U with Vega 10, on the three laptops. The GPU options come with 192, 512 and 640 stream processors, respectively.

The laptops can be had with up to 32 GB of DDR4 memory. Storage options can include up to 512 GB of NVMe-based SSD, a 1 TB HDD, or a mix of both.

Connectivity and Battery

For connections, you get 1 USB-C 3.0 port (with support for DisplayPort 1.2), 1 USB 2.0, 2 USB 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi ac, and Bluetooth 4.1. There’s also an HD webcam at the front, an optional fingerprint scanner and a microSD card reader. The two machines come with Windows 10 Pro out-of-the-box.

Battery capacity is set at 45 Wh. Unfortunately, pricing and availability are currently unknown.
