Lahore (September 28, 2017): A petition filed in Lahore High Court seeking to initiate contempt of court proceeding against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was returned by Registrar Office after raising objections.
A citizen Amina Mailk has moved LHC against the former prime minister ‘anti-judiciary’ statements pleading the court to initiate contempt of court proceeding against the former PM.However, Registrar Office of LHC returned the petition by raising objections. The Office said that August 24 order of the court had not been affixed with the petition.It is to be mentioned here that on August 24, the LHC had ordered Pemra and government not to allow airing anti-judiciary statements.
The petitioner has submitted in the petition that the former PM was continuously criticizing the judiciary and targeting the judges.She added that the statements of the Prime Minister were tantamount of contempt of court.
She pleaded the court to initiate contempt proceeding against the Nawaz Sharif.
