Rawalpindi/Peshawar (July 17, 2017): The Inter-Services Public Relations on Monday confirmed martyrdom of a major in Peshawar suicide attack.
ISPR said in a release that a motorcycle-borne suicide bomber hit FC vehicle today on routine patrolling duty in Hayatabad area of Peshawar.
Major Jamal Sheran embraced shahadat while 4 soldiers were injured, it added.
Earlier, talking to media after visiting the attack site SSP Operation Peshawar Sajjad Khan said that Major Jamal was on his way to office when a suicide bomber riding a Honda 125 motorcycle hit his vehicle.
He added that three FC personnel including Major Jalam embraced martyrdom in the suicide attack.
Sajjad Khan said that some 10 kg explosives were used in the suicide attack.
It is to be mentioned here that Three FC personnel including a major were martyred and seven other injured in a suicide attack on FC vehicle in Peshawar on Monday morning.
Soon after the attack, police, FC and Bomb Disposal Squad officials rushed to the site. Security forces cordoned off the area.
Police said that it was a suicide attack. They said that the attacker was riding a motorcycle, who struck the FC convoy near Bagh-e-Naraan in Hayatabad.
The bodies and injured were shifted to a local hospital. Four of the injured were shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex while three were shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
