Veteran actor Shabana Azmi truly believes that in Islam, marriage is not made in heaven and is essentially a contract.

Last week, she welcomed the Supreme Court’s ruling on triple talaq (divorce) providing that “the judgment is a victory for brave Muslim women in the country.”

Azmi, who is married to writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar, has always been vocal about many issues within society.
