Islamabad (December 6, 2017): Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Maryam Aurangzeb has urged the political parties to play their role for the passage of constitutional amendment on delimitation of constituencies from the Upper House.

While taking to the media in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, she said the political parties have started preparations for the general elections which will be held at their stipulated time next year.

The Minister of State said those who created hurdles in the way of development and hatched conspiracies will be rejected by the people in the next elections.

Maryam said despite hurdles and sit-ins, the government took the country on the path of development and completed important projects in the areas of energy, education and health.

She said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is appearing before the courts and those who attacked the institutions and used foul language against the parliament also needs to be held accountable.

Maryam said that all the institutions will have to work within the ambit of the constitution.

She recalled that the country was witnessing fifteen to sixteen hours of power outages when the PML (N) government assumed the power. But, over the last three and a half years, we have taken the power generation to the record level.

The minister pointed out the country was producing 9280 megawatt of power against the demand of 11800 MW in 2013. Today, the generation has reached 16480 megawatt and the demand is 14017 megawatt. We added 7465 megawatt of power to the system.
