Lahore (December 5, 2017): Following the Lahore High Court orders to making Justice Baqir Najfi Report on model town tragedy public, the Punjab government has uploaded the judicial report report on its website.
The Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has ordered the publish of report.
Earlier today, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered Punjab government to make public the report of a judicial inquiry into 2014’s Model Town Killings by rejecting the provincial government’s intra-court appeal against a single member bench of the high court decision.
A full bench of the LHC announced its reserved verdict today over the petition filed by the Punjab government against the making public the Model town tragedy report today.
The full bench headed by Justice Abid Aziz Shekikh directed Punjab government to release the Model Town inquiry report within 30 days.
The order came on the appeal of the Punjab government against the LHC’s earlier directives to disclose the Model Town inquiry report.
Later, terming the Lahore High Court verdict, in which LHC has ruled making public the Model Town tragedy report prepared by Justice Najfi, a victory of oppressed PAT chairman demanded Punjab government immediately hand over the report to the families of Model Town victims and PAT.
“I will go civil secretariat along with victims’ families to get the justice Baqir Najif judicial report and will stay there till the report making public,” Thairul Qadri said in a press conference in Lahore.
