ISLAMABAD: The 9th of Muharram observed throughout the country on Monday with due solemnity and sanctity to pay homage to the sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain Razi Allah-ho Tala Anho and his companions in Karbala. 

Taazia and Zuljanah processions have been taken out in different parts of the country today in memory of martyrs of Karbala.

Ulema and Zakireen have shed light on the bright and candid teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his great companions.


In Islamabad, the main procession of Taazia and Zuljinah has taken out from Markazi Imambargah G-6/2 and  conclude at the same place after passing through the traditional route.

A large number of mourners have participated in the procession.

To maintain law and order situation, mobile network service has been suspended in the sector. Islamabad Administration has also imposed Section 144 in the city to maintain peace and sectarian harmony.

Under the section 144, assembly of five or more people is banned except for Muharram processions, majalis, urs, prayers and other similar congregations of purely religious nature.

The ban will remain in place till 10th of Muharram, while pillion riding will also remain prohibited during this period.

DIG operation Waqar Uddin Syed is monitoring the security arrangements through safe city cameras and aerial surveillance.

The Administration has appealed the general public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies for maintaining peace during Ashura.


In Lahore, the major Zuljinnah Ziyarat and mourning procession taken out from the Pandu Street, Islampura this morning and culminated at the same venue in late night.

Another main procession of Shabih Zuljinnah taken out from Qasr-e-Batul Imambargah, Shadman will culminate at Shah Jamal. 


In Karachi, the main procession of 9th Muharram-ul-Haram was taken out from Nishtar Park and it has culminated at Imambargah Hussainian Iranian Kharadar.


In Peshawar, the main procession of 9th Muharram was taken out from Imambargah Hussainia Hall, Peshawar Saddar on Monday morning.

The procession after passing through its traditional route has terminated on its starting point in the evening.
