Multan: Dense Fog Affects Flight Schedule


Multan (November 12, 2017): Flight operations at Multan airport here remain suspended as the dense fog in Multan city and surroundings areas has restricted the visibility to just 50 meters.

A man was killed in a fog-related accident after a bus ran a motorcyclist over near Qadirpuran By-pass. The bus also turned after hitting the motorcyclist.

Meanwhile, the Multan-Khanewal section of the Motorway has been closed because of zero visibility.

The spokesman of the Motorway Police has advised the motorists to avoid traveling unless necessary along Multan Road due to unusual heavier traffic.

The visibility in plain areas of the city here has also hit the bottom to zero.

It may be mentioned here that most areas of the country, particularly vast parts of Punjab province, are in dense grips of fog which has affected all human activities. The fog has affected flight operations as well as the road motoring because the visibility at many places has cut to as low as 50 meters and zero at many other places. Train operations have also been severely affected. disrupted and several sections of motorway were closed on Friday night.

Flight operations at Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad and Sialkot were also affected. Many national and international flights could not departure on time.

Similar situation was witnessed at Motorway that was closed for traffic from Gojra to Faisalabad. Traffic also moved with a slow speed on National Highway. On the other hand, many people sustained severe wounds in smog related mishaps.
