Islamabad (November 6, 2017): The consultation meeting of PMLN to discuss a range of issues including population census, new electoral constituencies, and next elections will be held today. The meeting will be chaired by Nawaz Sharif at Punjab House today.
The meeting, to be attended by top leaders of the party, is the part of Nawaz’s consultations with the party hierarchy and leaders since he return from London.
According to sources Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and chairman PMLN Raja Zafarul Haq and other top leaders of the party will be attending the meeting during which among other things matters pertaining to prevalent political situation in the country and party issues wil be discussed. Strategy for 2018 elections and the constitutional amendment about electoral constituencies will also be chalked out during today’s meeting.
According to sources Nawaz will leave his Jati Umra estate for Islamabad in a short while. He will be accompanied by daughter Maryam Nawaz. Nawaz’s legal team will also meet him at Punjab House in Islamabad to discuss matters related to hearing of his case by the Accountability Court tomorrow.
It may be mentioned here that Accountability Court Islamabad has summoned Nawaz, Maryam, and her husband Capt (r) Safdar tomorrow.
It may be mentioned here that Nawaz also held consultation meetings with party leaders yesterday at his Jati Umra residence.
According to sources, Nawaz has assured the hierarchy of his party PML-N that a policy would soon be adopted to resolve all the differences within the party.
Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq, federal Minister Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique, Chaudhary Munir, and many other important leaders of the PMLN had called on Nawaz at Jati Umra. During meetings with the party leaders future strategy to help resolve the differences within the party and also over NAB references against Nawaz, both the sons, daughter Maryam, and her husband Capt (r) Safdar were discussed.
The PMLN leadership has decided to initiate election campaign amidst the similar campaigns of PTI and PPP already underway. The party leadership has agreed to launch a mass contact campaign. According to PMLN sources the first public meeting in this regard will be held in Abbottabad while announcements for other public rallies would be announced after that.
The PMLN leadership has also agreed to focus its attention on souther Punjab where PTI has also running an election campaign. It may be mentioned here that talking to media at Jati Umra along with Nawaz Sharif Saad Rafique declared general elections in national interest and had also warned that failure to carry out constitutional reforms could delay general elections next year. He had also asked all the political parties to resolve the issue pertaining to creation of new electoral constituencies.
Talking about population census Saad called the attitude of PTI and PPP about population census hard to understand while PMLN has accepted it.
Meanwhile, talking to media at Wah Cantt former federal Interior minister Nisar Ali Khan referring to installation of a technocrat government had said that the country needs stability while the country is facing internal and external threats that need to be fought. Respecting the opinions and electoral mandate despite differences as well as democracy, contacts, and coordination between institutions are necessary to fight these internal and external threats, he added.
Calling Shaikh Rashid by name Nisar lashed out at him saying that “only he could read future not me”. However, those riding fast horses are not sincere to the country, he added.
