Nokia 5.1 Plus Renders Reveal A Notch

Nokia has upgraded its older mid-range lineup and has launched 2018 upgrades including Nokia 2.1, 3.1 and 5.1. Previously, the company teased a “Nokia X” that seemed like an upcoming flagship, but we later found out that it was a midranger called Nokia X6.

The X6 was the company’s first notched display phone, it had a premium finish but packed moderate hardware. Now, HMD Global is launching another smartphone with a similar cutout on its front, expected to be called Nokia 5.1 Plus in the future, and its CAD renders have been leaked.

Here’s what it looks like,

It has a 5.7-inch notched display and has dimensions of 149.5 x 71.9 x 8 mm. Screen resolution should be at least FHD+. The cutout, as usual, houses a selfie camera along with an earpiece, and various sensors. The bottom chin is slightly wider and overall, the bezel size is fairly trimmed.

The rear has a vertical dual camera array, almost exactly the same as Nokia X6, with a fingerprint sensor below it. The notch is wide, but all in all HMD’s iteration of a notched display smartphone is fairly good-looking. Material finish seems glass, however, it should be housed in an aluminum frame just like most Nokia phones launched recently.

On the bottom edge, a Type-C connector is visible that sits right besides the speaker and the microphone. A 3.5 mm headphone jack is present at the top, it also has visible antenna lines to support connectivity on a metal frame. Other than this, there’s not much info available on its specifications as of yet.

Nokia is already aboard the notch train, we can expect future smartphones, including a Snapdragon 845 flagship, to come with a similar design.
