Islamabad (September 29, 2017): A meeting of National Security Committee has concluded in Islamabad with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in the chair.
The prime minister, sources said, took into confidence the committee about his recent US visit and important meetings he held there.
The meeting deliberated on the new US policy and Pakistan’s strategy.
The participants of the meeting also reviewed the regional situation, including efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistan.On the occasion, the DG ISI briefed the prime minister on the anti-terrorist operations being carried out in the country.
Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif briefed the meeting on his recent visits to the US, China, Iran and Turkey.
Asif said that he had informed the officials of the countries he visited about Pakistan’s stance on the security of Afghanistan and the region.Iran is also ready to play a role in the negotiation strategy for Afghan peace, he told the participants of the meeting.
The meeting was attended by the Ministers for Finance and Foreign Affairs, the Services Chiefs, DG ISI and other senior civil and military officials.
