QUETTA: Supreme Court of Pakistan scolded Balochistan secretaries of health and education and teachers’ union, as Chief Justice, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar said the situation in the province is worse than that in Sindh.
A three-member bench of the apex court is hearing a case of suo motu notices at apex court’s Quetta Reigstry on Tuesday.
“Your salary will be held back until the doctors are paid their salaries within a week,” said the CJ admonishing Health Secretary Saleh Muhammad Nasser.
Different high officials of the provincial government including Chief Secretary Balochistan, Advocate General Balochistan, Secretary Education and Secretary health appeared before the bench.
“There is not a single MRI machine at Civil Hospital, Quetta,” deplored CJ expressing dissatisfaction over the performance of health department and scolded secretary health over the plight of healthcare facilities in the province.
“Chief Secretary should keep better equipment at hospitals.” CJ Nisar also directed the secretary health to work for improvement in healthcare conditions.
“You give your doctors monthly salary of Rs24,000 per month. And, SC’s drivers receives Rs35,000 per month,” the Chief Justice said to the health secretary.
