PM Abbasi Announces Rs 25 bn Uplift Package for Karachi


Karachi (August 12, 2017): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has announced development package of Rs 25 billion for Karachi and assured that the federal government will extend its all-out support for development in Sindh province.

He was addressing press conference after meeting with Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair in Karachi.

The governor briefed the prime minister on the initiatives taken for the development and the confidence of business community.

PM Abbasi also announced five billion rupees for development of Hyderabad and another water project, accept K-4, will be initiated in Karachi.

“Federal Government will  address the complaints of the Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah as per law,” PM Abbasi said adding that Murad Ali Shah was his friend and he will not only hear their reservation but also will solve them.Commenting over Karachi situation, PM assured that the law and order situation will be further improved as Rangers will continue its efforts for restoration of peace in metropolitan.

Commenting over the Nawaz Sharif rally, PM said, “He is my party leader and will remain the leader.”

He went on saying that Nawaz Sharif did not say anything wrong that can cause bann on him.

“The bill was passed by the Sindh assembly regarding revoking National Accountability will be reviewed thoroughly,” he said answering to a question.

Earlier, the Prime Minister paid a visit to the mausoleum of Quaid-a-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

He laid floral wreath at the mausoleum and offered Fateha to pay homage and respect to father of the nation. He also recorded his impressions in the visitor’s book.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will chair a meeting on law and order situation in Karachi and meet the business community.

Later talking to a representative delegation of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Pakistan Business Council

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says the country cannot progress without strong economy and there is lot of room for boosting economy to lead the country on the road of progress and prosperity.

The prime minister called for efforts to ensure the promotion of economic activities in Karachi.

He said the government will continue to pursue the policies of former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. Members of new cabinet are working hard to achieve the goals and objectives of PML(N).

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that as a result of concerted efforts of PML(N) government and sacrifices of security forces, law and order has been restored in Karachi.

Our Karachi representative says that the Governor State Bank of Pakistan Tariq Bajwa and Chairman FBR Tariq Mehmood Pasha also called on the Prime Minister and briefed him about the performance of their respective institutions.

During the meeting, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair were also present on the occasion.
