PM To Lead Commonwealth Heads of Govt Meeting on Wednesday

Islamabad (April 16, 2018): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will lead the Pakistan delegation to the 25th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting begins in London from Wednesday.

The main theme of this Conference is “Towards A Common Future.”

Pakistan is one of the founding members of the organization. The current membership of the Commonwealth consists of 53 member states reflecting diversity of all continents of the world.

Participation in CHOGM-2018 would provide an opportunity to highlight the advances made by Pakistan including its transition to a modern and dynamic emerging market, which is an attractive destination for business, investment and trade.During his stay in London, the Prime Minister will call on Queen Elizabeth II, Prince of Wales and meet the British leadership.

It will also provide an opportunity to meet other Commonwealth leaders and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.Earlier, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa inspected the exercises of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

The defecne minister Khurram Dastgir was also presented on the occasion.

The military and civil leadership of Pakistan exclusively invited on the concluding ceremony of the war exercise as 24 countries have taken part in the exercises.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi reached Dammam on Sunday on a two-day official visit to witness a joint tri-services military exercise, ‘Gulf Shield-1’ being held along the east coast of Saudi Arabia.A press release from PM Office said the prime minister is accompanied by Federal Minister for Defence Khurram Dastagir and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Upon his arrival at King Abdulaziz Airbase Dhahran, PM Abbasi was received by the Governor Prince Saud bin Nayef Al Saud. Ambassador Khan Hasham bin Saddique and Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf al-Maliki also welcomed the Pakistani convoy.
