Islamabad (December 4, 2017): The Central Executive Committee (CEC) of PML-N has decided to launch mass contact campaign ahead of next general elections.
The committee met in Islamabad with party President Nawaz Sharif in the chair as the meeting was attended, among others, by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting, PML-N Central Information Secretary Mushahidullah said the party will be mobilized to enthusiastically participate in elections.
He said responsibilities will be assigned to party leaders at district level for the purpose.
He said it has also been decided to prepare a blue print of the party’s strategy for 2018 general elections.
The Central Executive Committee expressed full confidence in the leadership of party President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Mushahidullah said the meeting also reviewed performance of the government and expressed satisfaction over successfully fulfilling the pledges about elimination of terrorism and load-shedding as well as bringing the economy back on track.
He said verdict of the Supreme Court in Panama Papers negatively affected the overall situation, but despite this, the overall performance of the government remains unaffected by anti-government and anti-democracy moves.
Replying to a question, he said the next elections should be held as per schedule.
To another question, Mushahidullah said PML-N does not believe in confrontation and self-defence should not be construed as confrontation.
He said all parties should join hands for strengthening of democracy and national institutions.
Mushahidullah said the CEC decided to initiate disciplinary proceedings against Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and Raza Hayat Hiraj.
