ISLAMABAD: Government is blaming prime minister Imran Khan’s secretary Azam Khan for negligence in the matter related to the issuance of notification of COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s service extension.
According to the sources, a summary is being sent by the federal government to the cabinet seeking extension in the service of the COAS. The summary after approval from the prime minister has to be sent to the president for the notification.
However PM Khan’s secretary Azam Khan in the spot of bother issued the notification of COAS Bajwa’s service extension with the sign of the prime minister only.
Realizing the blunder, Azam Khan sent a summary to the cabinet members to seek their take on the issue through PM Secretariat.
Only 11 members out of 25 member cabinet gave approval in this regard as rest were not present in Islamabad. The notification was lately issued by the president with the consent of 11 members of the cabinet.
It may be noted that the Supreme Court earlier in the day, suspended notification giving three years service extension to General Bajwa.
