Jerusalem(December 06, 2017): Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will deliver a televised speech on Wednesday in response to US President Donald Trump’s anticipated announcement that Washington recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, a Palestinian official said.
The remarks would be broadcasted on Palestine TV.
Trump’s announcement on Jerusalem, a city at the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, was set for 1 p.m. EDT (1800 GMT). Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has so far held off on commenting explicitly about Trump’s planned policy shift.
Earlier, hours before a momentous announcement recognizing Jerusalem as Israel´s capital, US President Donald Trump on Thursday said that the move was “long overdue.”
“Many presidents have said they want to do something and they didn´t do it, whether it´s courage or they changed their mind, I can´t tell you,” Trump said, portraying himself as daring to fulfill a promise that previous presidents have shied away from.
“I think it´s long overdue,” he said.
