ISLAMABAD: A propaganda that Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Ahsan Iqbal possess an iqama is based on ill-intention, spokesman of the ministry said in a statement here on Wednesday.
Ahsan Iqbal had worked as an advisor of Governor Madina on Digital Economy Project from 2004 to 2006, however, he did not receive any salary on iqama after 2006, the spokesman said, adding the minister had already disclosed iqama in his nomination papers in 2013, and he never concealed the documents.
Furthermore, the spokesman clarified that Mr Ahsan had no business of any kind abroad and his iqama had also been expired.
Ahsan Iqbal is said to the fourth PML-N leader to have found to be holding iqama after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Water and Power Minister Khawaja Asif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
Yesterday, it emerged that Khawaja Asif was drawing a monthly salary of Rs1.4 million from an Abu Dhabi-based firm and his labour card was renewed as recent as last month. – SAMAA
