Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced last year that Pakistan Super League (PSL) 4 will be held in Pakistan. However, as per the latest development, only eight matches are scheduled to be played in the cricket deprived country.

The reason behind the decision change is that PSL franchises weren’t happy with the idea of holding all matches in Pakistan. Initially, it was reported that Afghanistan and UAE will hold their own leagues at Emirates between Septemeber this year and January 2019. However, the idea was dropped so PCB and PSL franchises decided to take the matches back to UAE.

The other reason cited for the reversal of the decision is the questionable law and order situation of the country. As per reports, PCB believes the law and order situation isn’t viable enough to hold all 34 matches in Pakistan.

All franchises expressed full confidence in the PCB’s attempts to bring more PSL matches to Pakistan. It was decided that at least eight matches will be held in Pakistan next year.

The franchises also suggested building a 200-room hotel inside Gaddafi Stadium for better management and enhanced security measures. The idea was forwarded to a committee who will study the feasibility of it.

No Pakistani Players in UAE Leagues

PCB also decided to bar the players from ever-increasing popular T20 leagues in UAE. The board announced that it will allow players under contract to play in such leagues. It, however, made an exception for the T10 league. The statement read:

The Governing Council expressed its concerns over a newly-announced T20 league taking place in the UAE. It was decided that the PCB will not allow any contracted players to take part in any T20 league taking place in the UAE other than Pakistan Super League [PSL].

Mickey Arthur will be the decision maker on which players will be allowed to play in the T10 league.
